A&O Festival Troopers Set to Patrol Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

September 6th, 2023

The specially trained California festival troopers will provide public safety services for the iconic Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 23 at San Francisco Golden Gate Park, September 29 to October 1. Alpha & Omega Mounted Security Patrol is honored to have served in this capacity since 2013.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, launched in 2001, is one of the oldest festivals in the nation and is offered free to fans every year. Over the last two decades, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has grown from a one-day local attraction to a world-renowned three-day festival that attracts a half million people. The inaugural festival had headliners Emmy Lou Harris and Allison Krauss, plus seven other musicians on two stages. Since then it has grown to eight stages with 32 sets scheduled in 2023. This year’s festival includes Steve Earle and Rufus Wainwright for his first appearance at the event.

Founded by philanthropist F. Warren Hellman, the proceeds have benefited a number of relief efforts for performing artists in need, including during the Covid shutdown. Hellman considered the festival a “selfish gift” that he enjoyed as much as the musicians and the community did.

A&O CEO Frank Keller said, “Over the last 10 years we have been grateful to be a part of the HSB community. The Troopers love duty at the Golden Gate Park, one of our nation’s treasures. Many reconnect with fans they have met over the years who are horse lovers. Everyone expresses appreciation for our work there and we hope to continue with HSB as they bring the best in entertainment to fans.”
